WHAT IS DATA SEPARATION ?

XML can keep the data separated from HTML. HTML pages are used to display  data. Before XML came into picture, data was often stored inside HTML pages. With XML. this data can be stored in a separate XML file. Thus, we can concentrate on the appearance and formatting of data sing HTML. and be sure that changes in the underiying data will not force any changes to our HTML code.
XML data can also be stored inside HTML pages as Data Islands. A data island is an XML document that exists within an HTML page. Almost any well-formed XML document can reside inside a data island. Data islands can be inline or external.
On the other hand if we use HTML alone, we cannot separate the formatting features from the data as they are always bound together.
