To restore data from logical damage, specialised disk-imaging utilites are used. These utilities recover every readable bit from the surface and also recover logical file structure of storage media. After a hardware repair, these utilities play a useful role to retrive original data. Refer following examples:
- PhotoRec :- A program used to recover files, including video, text document, and the pictures lost from the memory of digital camera. It runs under windows XP , vista, 2003,2007, etc
- Recuva : Freeware data recovery program runs under Microsoft Windows 8,7,Vista,XP,2003,2007, etc.
- Adroit Photo Recovery: Photo recovery program can recover fragmented photo files, and runs under Microsoft windows 7, vista, and XP.
